pieces done in 2022-2023
Topofilia can be defined as the affective bond with one's environment: a person's mental, emotional, and cognitive ties to a place. The term comes from the Greek, topos “ place ” and philia, “ love of ”
The pangaea pieces envision a world where all the continents have merged once again. The piece depicts in a very abstract shape, a unified landmass where the colors symbolize the unity of humanity. For me, these pieces act like a reminder of our potential to come together and create a more interconnected and multicultural future. The exhibition features a soundscapes installation with sounds of lava, the earth moving, water flowing on a river stream, wind and other nature sounds. The Arctic inspired pieces reflect on the everchanging situation of polar regions, the transformation of polar landscapes, and fragile ecosystems, a reminder of the urgent need to address climate change's impact on these remote regions.
